Last Monday I went to the Cruisin' the Fossil Freeway exhibit at the Burke Museum, based on the book of the same name that I may have already recommended (if I haven't, I'm doing it again). It was a neat display, lots of fossils and of course lots of paintings by Ray Troll. But what really surprised me was that they've released a CD "based" on the book, by Ray Troll, Russell Wodehouse, and "the Ratfish Wranglers." The CD is, of course, super-nerdy, and offers a wide mix of musical styles, there's the bluesy "Fish Face," the funky "Time Traveling (with a Shovel), the rockin' "Hell Pig," and plenty of others. I think we can easily determine if the CD is for you with the following excerpt regarding from "Ammonite:"

"Your Fibonacci sequence speaks volumes to my soul
I trace your inner coils and start to lose control
These armored squid enthrall me, they octopi my time
Dreaming of your sutures, calamari so divine."

If that doesn't get you, well, you can check out a selection of the CD at the band's MySpace page.
